By far my hardest solo job. Ive done auto to manual swap, engine overhaul, turbo sohc-v all done solo reading and trying but this one took 2 week straight of grave yard shifts, it beat the hell out of me. I did 52 hrs mon-friday all last week at night only. 12 hrs ot :) im glad I stuck with it. Hard work paid off and I learned through trial and error.
One door closes and another one opens,
So next week is my last week at Harris agency as an intern. Its been a great experience there for 6 months but I need to make money to pay bills. I met some awesome people and they really took me in and mentored me. Im sad to leave but its for the better. Its time to look forward and plan my next move.
Where will I end up?
Currently trying to find a job in graphic design has been a struggle but Im not ready to give up just yet. I think overall I think this field has challenged me most. I think my hunger to learn has always driven me to do the things I do. So many things scenarios come up while designing. Research, development, discovering… just so much come into play but i really enjoy it. I guess this is why I really enjoy school and I would love to continue going but money is always a issue in life. I went through welding, auto body, and auto mechanic pretty fast. I think one day I can always fall back on those trades. Not everyone can paint their own car, transmission swap, engine rebuilt, and weld. I will always have skills that I learn on the job too like floral design, stage display, fixing ovens and building just about anything clients ask for.
Im good at learning on my own but there’s so much more i could learn off of others.
Over the years Ive been able to learn things on my own but I think its time I find a great mentor to take me in and teach me. Im hoping this contact I got from my creative director with this well known local photographer works out. Her husband is a toy designer, which has been my ultimate goal for a while now. Ive got so many questions to ask. I really hope things workout and this paves a more clear path to becoming a toy designer. My goals are still to go to Otis or NY FIT for toy design.
I’m going back school this fall to continue my education so I really need to save some money while I can this summer. Ive been sorta cruising it since graduation but starting the next month Ill be working 2 serious jobs. They may not be in the field im going for but I’m also working on my portfolio and 3d reel. I hope to be able to have my site up soon… I’m just writing this random post to get my thoughts out. If you have read to this point, thank you for reading my scattered mind thoughts :)
Its been a week since graduation… ive been getting tons of rest and my health is getting better now that ive been able to get some excercise in. Now since im planning to apply to otis so i can hopefully go in the next year or so, Ill be working on my art portfolio.. Ill try and post from time to time my progression and WIP. Im excited so stay tuned… I hope to have my website up soon.
